Pastor Phil married Sandy on June 6, 1981, and they have three grown children: Elizabeth (married to Nic), Peter (married to Naseem), and Tim (very interested in Emily). Before coming to Washington Island in May 2005, he was a church planter in Midland, Michigan (1986-1989), Ellsworth, Kansas (1989-2001), and Oskaloosa, Kansas (2001-2005). While in central Kansas, he also enjoyed teaching philosophy, ethics, speech, Old Testament Wisdom Literature, and New Testament Gospels for Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kansas. Today, in addition to pastoring the wonderful people at Bethel Church, he works with the Forest Lakes District of the Evangelical Free Church of America to train ministry coaches. His education includes: Moody Bible Institute -- Diploma (May 1976); Wheaton College -- B.A. in History (May 1981); Dallas Theological Seminary -- Th.M. (May 1985); and Dallas Theological Seminary -- D.Min. (May 2001).
